How To Continue Planning The Wedding Of Your Dreams During A Pandemic

When this pandemic first started, it seemed like a joke. One minute, things were normal, and the next, we suddenly couldn't hang out with friends or hold weddings anymore. Lots of couples were affected, and we're still hoping for some good news concerning this. If your wedding plans have been affected by this, we'd like to offer our sympathy. Know that you are not alone, and we will get through this. Don't give up, keep planning, and before you know it, you'll be able to hold the beautiful wedding ceremony that you've always wanted. Here are some tips from us at Cherishable Moments Events and Design on how to continue planning your dream day during this pandemic.

Where to Begin

If your wedding must be postponed, contact your vendors as soon as possible. This will give you time to explore all your options, and you'll be able to get an accurate view of how your wedding will be affected by everything. Remember that there's no need to panic. Your vendors know what is happening and will be aiming to help you as much as possible.

Create A Checklist That Addresses All of The Following

  • Your wedding date vs CDC and local guidelines: Determine if you’ll have to postpone

  • Your wedding venue and its limits

  • Your wedding vendors: time to recheck contracts

  • Your insurance policy and what it covers

  • Your guests and their health

The Next Step After Postponing

Check-in with your vendors or hire new ones. Once this pandemic is over, there is going to be a rush for all available vendors. It would be best if you moved fast so that you can still find the best vendors possible before they're all booked up. You can contact them through their website and apps like Facetime, Skype, Google Hangouts, and more. They'll be more than ready to communicate with you.

Have Your Wedding Planning Meeting Virtually

Do you have a wedding planner? If not, you're going to need one now more than ever. They'll be able to help you navigate all that concerns your wedding in Chicago during this pandemic. This is where their experience will come in very handy. Check-in on them to get/give updates on different wedding tasks, and your plan for your wedding.

Communicate with Your Guests

Place a note on your wedding website (We're hoping you have one by now), social media, call, send a text or email that points out the following:

  • Whether you are moving forward with your original date, going virtual, postponing or canceling.

  • If you are moving forward, what you are considering at the moment. total guest count (including vendors), venue location/layout, overall plans for their safety while they are celebrating with you

  • The grey area: if you are postponing or holding out when will final details be made.

  • If you are canceling: how can guest still celebrate your love with you

Be open-minded. Everyone is trying to figure their way through COVID 19. While people want to celebrate with you, some have reservations and don’t know how to communicate that with you. Make it easier for your guest to communicate and understand their concerns.

Celebrate the Day Anyway

You might not be able to have your wedding ceremony on that day, but the date will always hold significance for you. You could open up your favorite bottle of wine and watch a movie at home to commemorate it and celebrate your love. You could have a romantic dinner for two. Remember that postponing your wedding doesn't mean cancellation. You may have to postpone your wedding or even scale back on the guest count, but don't lose sight that the purpose the day existed, to begin with, was love. Best of luck!!!
